چکیده

Introduction: Non Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) is a common hematologic malignancy accounting for 4% all cancers in United States. It is estimated that nearly 70,000 patients will be diagnosed with NHL in 2013, and 19,000 will die from this disease. 18-F FDG PET combined with anatomic CT imaging has been shown to be superior to contrast enhanced CT examination in staging of lymphoma. Thus PET/CT is routinely performed for initial staging of lymphoma. MR imaging with inclusion of diffusion weighted imaging has also shown considerable promise in evaluation of patients with lymphoma. On morphologic MR imaging, abnormal nodes are identified on the basis of size alone whereas PET identifies abnormal nodes on the basis of FDG uptake. With introduction of integrated PET/MR system simultaneous PET and MR imaging can be performed thus providing a unique opportunity to compare diffusion and PET independently and together for assessment of disease burden. Therefore the purpose of this study was to compare accuracy of morphologic MR imaging including diffusion weighted imaging (DWI-MR) to simultaneously acquired PET and radial T1-weighted free-breathing acquisition (PET/MR) for detection of nodal disease in lymphoma patients with PET/CT as a reference.

Prognostic Value of FDG-PET, Based on the Revised Response Criteria, in Patients with Malignant Lymphoma: A Comparison with CT/MRI Evaluations, Based on the International Working Group/ Cotswolds Meeting Criteria

Objective(s): Post-treatment evaluations by CT/MRI (based on the International Working Group/ Cotswolds meeting guidelines) and PET (based on Revised Response Criteria), were examined in terms of progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with malignant lymphoma (ML). Methods: 79 patients, undergoing CT/MRI for the examination of suspected lesions and whole-body PET/CT before and after therapy...

Evaluation of STIR-HASTE whole body MRI for the initial staging of paediatric lymphoma: A correlation with PET/CT

Introduction: Optimized treatment of lymphoma is dependent upon disease stage. Hodgkin lymphoma (HL) and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) are staged using the Ann Arbor classification system based on a combination of clinical symptoms and imaging assessment of extent of lymph node involvement. CT has a reported sensitivity and specificity for identification for diseased nodal sites of 87.5% and 85.6%...

18F-FDG PET/CT in Neurolymphomatosis: Report of 3 Cases

Neurolymphomatosis is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma characterized by infiltration of peripheral nerves, nerve roots, plexus and cranial nerves by malignant lymphocytes. This report presents positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT)imaging with 2-deoxy-2-18F-fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) in 3 cases of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with nerve infiltration, including one newly d...

Evaluation of a Fast Protocol for Staging Lymphoma Patients with Integrated PET/MRI

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to assess the applicability of a fast MR-protocol for whole-body staging of lymphoma patients using an integrated PET/MR system. METHODS A total of 48 consecutive lymphoma patients underwent 52 clinically indicated PET/CT and subsequent PET/MRI examinations with the use of 18F-FDG. For PET/MR imaging, a fast whole-body MR-protocol was implemented. A radiol...

Evaluation of PET/MRI for Tumor Volume Delineation for Head and Neck Cancer

INTRODUCTION Computed tomography (CT), combined positron emitted tomography and CT (PET/CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are commonly used in head and neck radiation planning. Hybrid PET/MRI has garnered attention for potential added value in cancer staging and treatment planning. Herein, we compare PET/MRI vs. planning CT for head and neck cancer gross tumor volume (GTV) delineation. ...
